SOW INDOORS/OUTDOORS – MARCH to MAY

PLANT OUT – APRIL

FLOWERS/HARVEST – JUNE to OCTOBER

For a head start, sow indoors initially. Fill a seed tray with seed sowing compost nearly to the top. Sow seeds about 4-5 cm apart over the surface and lightly cover with seed compost (approx 1/2 inch deep). Place in a light space in warmth of 15-20°C (60-68°F) and keep moist. Transplant to outdoor soil or pots as specified below.

For outdoors growing, sow into a sunny position in well drained soil. Between March and May when the soil starts to feel warm. Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep in a single row 45cm apart and keep moist.

HINTS AND TIPS

The seeds from harvested flowers can be used as a healthy snack and for baking.
