Description

SOW – MARCH to JUNE

HARVEST – JULY to SEPT

For a head start, sow indoors initially. In early spring, fill a seed tray with seed sowing compost nearly to the top. Sow seeds about 2-4 cm apart over the surface and lightly cover with seed compost (approx 1/2 inch deep). Place in a light space in warmth of 15-20°C (60-70°F) and keep moist. Transplant to outdoor drills or pots as specified below.

Sow into a sunny position in well drained soil. Between March and May when the soil starts to feel warm. Sow seeds 5cm deep in a single row, or in large plant pots (2 to 4 inches apart) ensuring there is enough space for support should you need it. Keep moist.

Once peas have reached 5 to 8cm, their tendrils may reach out for support. If they do so, use a series of bamboo canes that they can climb up.

When harvesting time is reached, pick from the bottom up. The more you harvest, the more peas will be produced.
