Sow directly outdoors from February to May where they are to crop at a depth of around 1.5-2cm in drills 30cm apart. Germination may take-up to 28 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle (between 2-4cm usually), thin them out so they’re about 7-10cm apart in the rows.

Try not to sow in cold or wet soils. Parsnips like a well-drained, sunny position that has lots of nutrients / fertiliser. Harvest between September to March when they appear a good size.
