Description

SOW – FEB to APRIL, PLANT OUT MAY

FLOWERS – JUNE to OCTOBER

Sow indoors or under glass initially. Fill a seed tray with seed sowing compost nearly to the top. Sprinkle the seeds over the surface and cover with a thin sprinkling of seed compost (approx 1/4 inch deep). Place in a light, warm space in 21-25°C (70-77°F). Make sure there is plenty of light and drainage for the pots. To accelerate the germination process, place in a propagator. If you don’t have one, wrap in some cling film instead. Germination takes place which is usually 7-21 days.

When seedlings are large enough to handle (between 2-4cm usually), they’re ready to be transferred into larger pots (8cm). Grow on in cooler conditions. When danger of frost has passed, gradually harden off when planting outdoors to a well drained, warm soiled, sunny position. These are one of slugs favourite plants so be sure to protect them.
